Fuel efficiency has long been an operational objective, but recent geopolitical and economic pressures have intensified that focus. Too often, fuel-saving policies are introduced without sufficient explanation, contextualisation, or training, creating resistance, mistrust, and pressure on crews to adhere strictly to planned fuel figures. This one-day in-person workshop is designed for pilots, dispatchers, and operational personnel, and is tailored to the operator’s fleet, regulatory framework, procedures, policies, and OFP provider. It explores fuel management from planning to engine shutdown, linking technical fuel management with human factors, communication, and decision-making. Core objectives include:

  • A deeper understanding of the legal and operational framework governing fuel carriage

  • The development of mental models that take into account external influences on fuel burn

  • Fuel optimisation opportunities across the entire mission profile

  • Adapting when things do not go according to plan

  • Understanding the psychology of fuel-related decision-making

  • Extensive learning through case studies

  • Practical applications tailored to the specific fleet and area of operations
